Summer always marked one of my favorite seasons as a child, and in less than 100 days it will officially be summer. For many kids across the country, that means it’s time to start packing for summer camp.
For many children, camp is a great place discover their talents and skills while gaining confidence, making new friends and exploring the wonders of nature during such developmentally critical times in their life.
Unfortunately, many families do not have the resources to send their children to camp. That’s why we jumped at the opportunity to not only make a contribution but also to join the Channel 3 Kids Camp Telethon, where together we were able to raise money to help fund children’s camp adventures.
The funds we were able to raise together will underwrite the cost of sending children to camp, who otherwise would be unable to experience one of the great joys of summer.
It’s been said that you learn everything you need to know in kindergarten. That may be so, but I also think there are life skills that kids can gain from attending camp – making friendship, overcoming new challenges and building character, just to name a few. All of these help prepare a child for bigger, brighter lives down the road.
More than anything, summer camp simply allows kids to be kids. Thank you to all the great people at Channel 3 for putting this very worthwhile campaign together and thank you to the Edible Arrangements team for helping provide very deserving children with a summer of adventure, smiles, and plain old good times.
